Lighting Launch Event 

 
We are delighted to announce that the club's floodlights have been installed and tested which is perfect timing as light is beginning to fade earlier and earlier. We would like to invite members to a launch event on Friday 16th September starting at 6:30pm.  The event will be free for all members. The plan for the evening is as follows:
 
6:30pm - Members arrive and use the courts for a warm up
6:45pm- Update from committee on floodlights including Q&A
7:00pm - American Doubles tournament - 1st round matches
7:20pm -7:30pm  - Official light switch on
7:30pm - American Doubles tournament - 2nd round matches and further rounds for 90 minutes
9:00pm - Drinks and snacks in clubhouse (see below)

If you are unable to play do still come down and join the fun!
 
Update from committee on floodlights including Q&A

The committee will update the members on some changes following the launch night, this will cover:

• How to book courts / lights after sunset including minor changes to Clubspark booking?
• How to pay for the lights
• How to turn lights on / off
• Instructions for joining social tennis / team practice using Spond
• Curfew time
• Q&A

American Doubles Tournament format
 
We would like as many members as possible to attend the launch night and participate in the tournament. All abilities are welcome. We will look to use all 4 courts, so have up to 16 players on court at any time. 
 
This will involve playing with different members throughout the evening. Where possible we will look to match partners and opponents based on ability to ensure fair and competitive matches. Matches will be made up of 5 games with sudden death on second deuce. A point is awarded for each game won by each player. Small prizes will be given at the end of the night. 
 
Drinks and Snacks in Clubhouse
 
The club will provide hot and cold drinks as well as a selection of snacks for after the tournament. Members are welcome to bring a small number of alcoholic drinks which can be stored in the fridge for after the tournament.
 
Further information
 
Following the launch event all members will be emailed details of how to use the floodlights which will be available to all members from 30 minutes before sunset to 10pm from Saturday 17th September on a 'pay as you play' basis.
