Notification of the 2023 Play-Your-Way-to-Wimbledon Challenge

Entries are now open for the 2023 Bearsden Lawn Tennis Club U14 Road to Wimbledon Challenge.  This competition is designed to inspire and engage players aged 14 and under.  The key is to have a fun, sociable competition for our young budding players.  The winners of these events will then progress to the County Finals. County Final winners are then invited to compete in the National Finals at Wimbledon in August.  All players will receive a Wimbledon certificate and prize for competing in this event, and it also doubles as our BLTC U14 Club Championship.

Event:  Under 14 Boys (players must be 14 or under - born between January 1st 2009 and December 31st 2012 - and must have a WTN ranking between 20.0 and 40.9).

When and where: The competition will be run as a single day event on Sunday 23rd April at Bearsden Lawn Tennis Club.  The start time will be confirmed with the players/parents later as it will depend on the number of entries received. 

Rules and procedures of play: Matches will be a Fast4 format played as the best of two short sets, i.e. first to get to 4 games wins.  At 3 games all, a tiebreak is played to 7 points, 2 clear points at 6-6.  If the score is 1 set all, a match tie-break (first to 10 points, with 2 clear points at 9-9) to decide the third set.

How to enter: Entries should be made using the LTA Tournament website https://competitions.lta.org.uk/tournament/A70211BA-D5E1-42C4-B516-E855E8F5D00A (with your parent's contact details so you can be contacted).  Alternatively, please speak to our club coach Gordon Wilson and leave your details with him.  The details (including a copy of this email) are now on the Junior Noticeboard in the clubhouse.

Entries close on Thursday 20th April.

The above rules have been approved by the Committee and will be strictly applied.
