We hope you’ve been enjoying the summer break, please find attached information for September.

The new term starts on Monday 5th September, with all groups being based here at Beauchief for the first half term. We will provide further information regarding changes after October half term in due course. 

Please assume your child is in the same group at the same time unless we contact you directly. As always with mini tennis the transition from one ball colour to the next is an ongoing development process - we are fully aware of preparing players to go to the next level however this shouldn’t be rushed. Alongside this the LTA provides it’s guidelines of ages however this is something that will be down to judgement and discretion.

Aidan will still be coaching at the club however due to a number of amendments in the program he will be based at our Matchpoint Team affiliated sites Ashbourne and Chesterfield on Mondays and Wednesdays. He will still be involved with players on a 1-1 basis and although he won’t be with us week to week on the academy sessions he will still be very much involved with player development and other coaching at the club. I would personally like to take the opportunity to thank Aiden for all the hard work and energy he has brought to the sessions. I’m sure we will look at putting together some joint coaching camps with the different clubs as we did earlier this year at Chesterfield.

I’m excited to announce Jonny Fraser will be joining myself on a Monday evening and taking over from Aidan on a Wednesday. Jonny brings a wealth of experience both as a coach and supporting players in a sport science capacity. Please check out www.scienceintennis.com for more information about Jonny. 

Thanks to all the players who managed to attend the training camp over the summer. We worked on the rhythm and flow of movement on court. We challenged players to understand the different ways we move into space and how to create space with their feet. The players were a pleasure to coach with lots of energy and enthusiasm. 

Finally, our last Academy Training Camp of the year is on October 24th 10am - 1pm
