CORONAVIRUS

The Government's statement on Monday (16 March) in relation to Covid-19 said now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others.

In line with LTA recommendations, Biddenden Lawn Tennis Club has already ceased all organised tennis club activity, including the Wednesday club night sessions and the Saturday morning junior sessions.

The Government has now announced further measures to reduce social mixing and slow the spread of the virus, including the closure of leisure centres. However, this does not include outdoor sporting venues such as the tennis club.

We understand it is important to give people the opportunity to exercise responsibly during the crisis, and the tennis courts will remain open for members to use at their own risk.

If members wish to use the courts, please book via ClubSpark. We will not make the court available to non-members in these circumstances. However, membership is now available for the 2020/21 season, and you can play immediately once you have signed up.

When using the courts, we implore you to observe government advice on social distancing and hygiene to keep you and others as safe as possible. In particular:

  • Please do not use the courts if you or any of your household have any of the symptoms associated with coronavirus.
  • Please wash your hands before and after playing. We have provided soap and paper towels in the hut for this purpose.
  • Please bring and use your own tennis balls. Do not use the club balls or borrow any equipment in the hut. We cannot guarantee the hygiene.
  • Please think carefully before playing as a large group from different households. Minimise physical contact if you do. Refrain from normal handshakes and high fives. Keep two metres apart - even when playing doubles.
  • Be particularly careful if someone else is playing on the other court.

We may have to revise these arrangements at short notice should advice from the Government or the LTA change.
