Floodlights For courts 1 and 2 the switches are located on the outside wall near the Squash entrance. For courts 3 and 4 the switches are on the outside wall near the side door/corner of the cricket practice pavilion. They take a few minutes to come on. If they are switched off for any reason they will take 15 minutes before they come on again. Please ensure all lights are switched off after play. They will automatically switch off at 10.00pm.

Care of courts If the courts are covered in leaves/debris before a game they must be cleared using one of the drag mats and the debris put in one of the dustbins on the courts using the brushes provided. If the courts are clear then after play the courts should be brushed with the drag mat to ensure the sand is distributed evenly but do not brush them if they are wet as too much sand is collected.

Can I play a non-member Visitors can now play with a member for £5 (up to 3 times). £5 should be paid direct to the Birkdale LTC account (Sort code: 05-02-00, Account number:08970056). When booking, players must now record who they are playing with. When recording a visitor, put the letter V after the surname. It is the members responsibility to make sure the £5 is paid as soon as the booking is confirmed.

What to wear Players must wear suitable footwear and sports clothing.

Teams and cup matches The Club has 5 teams playing in the Southport & District Tennis League which involves weekly matches from late April to the end of July. We also play in 5 Cup matches against other clubs through the tennis season. These are the Christiana Hartley Cup, the Trinity Shield, the College Cup and the Joseph Lord Cup. Some have qualifying rounds which may be played at our club or at another local club.

There is excellent tennis played at all these matches and all members are most welcome to come down to watch and support our teams.

Practice nights for the senior teams are held on Mondays and Tuesdays in April.
