New Men Tackle Llandrindod Wells

A Club ambition for this year is to give more opportunities for members  to play competitive tennis  and to build a pipeline of players who may in the future wish to be considered for Shropshire League tennis. David Cross, Men's Captain,  is leading the Club's efforts to arrange 'friendly'  games against other  Clubs.

First up was a trip to Llandrindod Wells for Phil Taylor, Nigel Reaney and  Larry Monk , supported by top player, Ant Lempert.

Phil Taylor said:   "The Llandrindod Wells players were all of a very good standard and two were much younger than any of us (!!).  We played two simultaneous doubles matches.  None of us won any sets but we did win a few games and had a lot of good rallies.  In the end they were too goodly against Llandrindod  for us.

Afterwards the friendly hosts very kindly took us to a town centre hotel where a meal and drinks were laid on.

It was rather a late return and quite a long drive, but a thoroughly enjoyable evening none the less."

Next up is a Mixed Doubles friendly, also against Llandrindod Wells, on Monday 19 July, starting at 6pm.

Spectators encouraged and welcome!
