Press Notice: LTA President's BC Visit

PRESS NOTICE

Top UK Tennis Boss to visit Bishop’s Castle

There is great delight, surprise and excitement at Bishop’s Castle Tennis Club. The President of the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association), David Rawlinson, is to visit the Club on Saturday afternoon,  31 July. This is the first time ever that the Club has received such a prestigious visitor.

Leaders of Tennis Shropshire will accompany the President on his visit.

During his visit the President will be talking to players and volunteers and officially opening a new shelter. The shelter is for parents and guardians as they watch and wait for Junior players taking part in the Club’s extensive coaching programme. Also Members will be able pop in to take cover from the odd rain shower.   ‘Rain stopping play’ should be less of a problem!

Grenville Jackson, Chair of Bishop’s Castle Tennis Club, said:  “It was a great surprise and thrill to receive a call asking if the President could visit Bishop’s Castle. To have the top UK tennis boss of one of the country’s biggest sports come to south west Shropshire is a great privilege and testament to the hard work being put in by volunteers to grow and improve the Club. We’ll use the occasion to thank others for the advice and guidance received during the various Covid lockdowns.”

All members, young and old, have been invited to attend this very special occasion.
