Fire Safety

A Fire Safety Audit was carried out at Boldon Tennis Club on the 14th May 2024 (our first ever!) by a technician from Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Services. The overall result was very good indeed in that there is insufficient evidence for a formal advisory letter or action. The results and observations will stay on-record towards the next inspection.

However, there are a small number of areas that need to be addressed/improved and evidenced. Some areas are easy and have already been addressed. A few need some specialist action and are being addressed with the relevant people to be completed in due course. For example, an extra two Emergency Lights are needed in the corridors of the Ladies and Gents toilet/changing rooms. These two extra lights will be fitted shortly.

It was noted that although we do not need a ‘Fire Alarm’, a shout of “Fire”, “Get out” and to phone the Fire Brigade should be added to our ‘In case of fire’ posters that are in the Clubhouse and members should be informed of the changes to the posters. The amended poster is attached. Please have a look at it and make a mental note of where the escape routes are.

There will also be monthly drills with a different cohort of members every month so that everyone will be aware of what should be done in event of a fire.
