Hello prospective new members /current members, welcome  to Bowerham Lawn Tennis Club.  We’ve been around for a long time, but we’re young at heart and always looking for new members, so why not come and join us?!  We’re located on the south side of Lancaster, not far from Booths and the Boot and Shoe pub (see map below).

We had our courts resurfaced in November 2017 with an ITF approved Matchplay 2 XL carpet surface.  Along with our state-of-the-art floodlights - you can definitely play rain or shine on our courts!

Whether you’re a beginner, improver or tennis pro there’s something for you at BLTC.  We welcome all ages and abilities and run an extensive social tennis programme (see below) so you’ll quickly be able to find your niche.

Facilities - With 4 floodlit courts, we offer year round tennis.  By all means enjoy playing during our balmy English summers, but why not join the stalwarts who are out in all weathers, winter and summer alike.  Our large clubhouse has changing facilities, a lounge area and fully licensed bar that is popular after an evening of tennis and for hosting social events.

Social Tennis - As mentioned above, we run Club Nights on Mondays and Fridays from March to October from around 6.00pm to as long as people want to play (our floodlights have to be switched off at 10:00pm). The format is normally doubles to maximise the court usage. Groups of four players are selected to ensure everyone gets competitive tennis and one set only is played (with deciding point at deuce if there are players waiting), whereupon the four goes off to be mixed in for another set.
Players are rotated such that people have an opportunity to play with a variety of partners and opponents.  Prospective new members are welcome with no obligation or pressure to join.

After tennis there is an opportunity to have a social drink from our fully licencsed bar and chat with your fellow players.

Team tennis - If this is what you are after, there’s plenty on offer.  We’re run  2 ladies’, 4 mens', 1 under 17s junior, 1 veteran's and 1 mixed team in the Lancaster and District, Kendal and Fylde leagues.  We also enter teams in Lancashire knock-out competitions.  So whatever your level, you’re likely to find a team to suit your ability. Coaching - We’re all looking to improve and our LTA Level 3 coach John Varney is here to help.  His junior sessions are very popular and growing, running after school and at weekends and he offers all levels of senior coaching, both individual and group (see Coaching page for more information).

Wimbledon ticket ballot - this ballot is centralised and will be issue via the LTA or via the public ballot. You will need to be a member of LTA to be eligible for LTA ballot - it is free to join!
