Mini red tennis
Is for players aged 5 to 8. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It's just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
Mini orange tennis
Is for players aged 8 and 9. What ball is used? An orange ball is used which is 50% slower than a yellow ball, giving players better control at this important stage of development.
Mini green tennis
Is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It’s played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. A green ball is used, which is 25% slower than a yellow ball.
Please bring your own racket. Please note you need to be a member of Bramhope Tennis Club to participate in coaching.
"My name is Peter Ashley. I started playing tennis in Leeds at the age of 4, falling in love with it straightaway. I left school at 13 and went to train full-time in Loughborough, Bolton and the National Tennis Centre. At 17, I moved home to Cookridge to carry on playing while focusing on my education. Now I compete for Leeds Beckett University in the National BUCS league.
I have always had a passion for the game, which is why I chose to do my coaching qualifications to help other people improve their game. No matter what level you play at, you can always try to improve something! My main qualifications and achievements as a player are:
- Level 3 LTA coach
- Men’s Yorkshires champion 2015
- Represented GB at all junior age groups
- Competed at Junior Wimbledon in 2012 and 2013
- Junior career high ranking of 94 in the world
- Men’s career high ranking of 1,400 in the world
As a Leeds lad, I love the area and want to give something back to the community in which I grew up. I believe in players having fun while getting better at the great game."

"My name is Danny Jones. I began playing tennis with my father and brothers at the age of 3 in Wells and have had a great passion for the sport ever since. At 11, I started to play for the Llandeilo Club Men’s team in Carmarthenshire. Away from home as a Sports Scholar at Sedbergh School, I became Captain of Tennis at the age of 16 and began coaching back in Carmarthenshire in the school holidays. I went on to coach tennis at the Park Lane Club, London and at Shawnigan Lake School in British Columbia.
Now playing for Leeds Beckett University, I have been Head Coach of Alwoodley Tennis Club for 2 years and qualified as an LTA Level 4 Coach in summer 2016. As well as working hard with players to improve technique and performance, I believe in making my lessons as much fun as possible for everyone."
