Petanque

The Pétanque Section at Broughton and District Club was established in 1995. It is the only pétanque club within a 15 miles radius of Preston. With over 50 members, the Section provides a very friendly, social and competitive environment. It is a very simple but enjoyable game to play with friends and family (from aged 14). Here are a few more reasons for wanting to play:

1. Encourages social connection: You can play as a single, or in a team of two or three.

2. It’s low impact: It’s very unlikely that you will injure yourself.

3. Requires concentration, tactics and strategy: It’s as much a mental game as a physical one.

4. Anyone can play: It’s a game where men and women can compete together.

5. It’s easy to learn: The rules are simple to learn after a quick explanation.

6. Gets you outdoors: Being an outdoor game, you will be in the fresh air.

7. Relieves stress and anxiety: It’s a fun game that relieves stress.

8. Improves judgement and accuracy: Accuracy and distance judging are the two important skills for pétanque.
