May 2023 Club Newsletter

Welcome to our May 2023 newsletter.

Such exciting times! There is so much going on at the club both on the courts and behind the
scenes. What a buzz there is around the place!

Our new clubhouse is on its way!
We were granted planning approval to replace the current chalet with the new, larger building which has a sizable heated social area overlooking the courts, a kitchen and two toilets, one of which has wheelchair access.

Members, friends, relatives, sponsors and the community really got behind our fundraising efforts through Crowdfunding and we raised £22,072. Further additional sponsorship has taken us to just short of £25,000. Thank you so much to you all, we can now proceed with this exciting and essential development.

The new clubhouse has been ordered and we expect it to be ready to enjoy from July. We will keep you updated on a special opening event to mark this brilliant development.

Membership renewal is available now!
Earlybird payment for current members is available until the end of May. This offers a real saving on annual membership and is well worth doing. Act now and do not miss out on this great saving for tennis and padel.

League Matches

Congratulations to our teams who played in Division 1 of the Derby Area Tennis Winter Leagues. Our mixed team won their league and the men finished fourth. Many thanks to the captains and players who made this such a success. Team matches in both the Derby and Burton summer leagues have started. Good luck to all of our 11 teams!

The fixture list is on the club noticeboard. Come along and support and see some brilliant matches! Or get involved. We have teams for all standards so please contact our captains or Chris Booth if you would like to play. You will be very welcome.
Sunday morning social tennis welcomes members each week and offers very enjoyable, friendly, and competitive tennis for all. Come along and play!

Tennis Coaching
Current coaching sessions. Sign up for the junior and adult group sessions running now. For adults, we have some great sessions on Wednesday and Sunday evenings with Becky Williams and Thursday morning with Jane Rushby. Come along and see how much fun they are whilst improving your tennis. Visit our website for more information.

Holiday Camps!
Becky and Ellen will be running camps over the Whitsun holiday. These are hugely popular so look out for the flyer and book early to ensure your child’s place.

Future Extra Coaching

Our tennis coaching programme has been such a success that we are looking to increase availability by adding another qualified coach (Level 3 or above or striving to get to Level 3) to our amazing team. This will enable us provide more group and individual sessions for both adults and juniors to meet the level of demand.
