COVID-19 Update

The club's approach during these unprecedented times is continually being reviewed in line with both the Government advice and LTA Guidelines.

Overwhelmingly it is clear members want the Club to continue providing tennis in a responsible way.  Playing tennis appears to be one of the safer sports to play.  It is outdoors and during play, there is a safe distance between players and there are obvious health benefits to safe recreational exercise and social interaction. The committee have therefore decided the following:

  1. All Club adult play will continue including adult coaching, social play (Wednesdays and Sundays) and the various WhatsApp groups.
  2. Group junior coaching is suspended pending review. One-to-one and two-to-one junior coaching may continue subject to appropriate supervision and risk assessment.
  3. The Clubhouse will be closed save for accessing handwashing facilities, toilets, balls, first aid, water and notices.  To discourage social interaction, the bar and kitchen will be closed, chairs, kitchen facilities (eg kettle, tea/coffee), table tennis, etc. will be removed.  Outdoor seating will be available provided members maintain a safe distance (6 feet and no more than 15 minutes).
  4. It is critically important members wash their hands before and after play, and do not touch their faces.  Being absolutely candid if members cannot adhere to this we may have to review keeping open the courts.  Shaking hands is discouraged.
  5. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure hygiene standards are maintained and to remind members who, in their enthusiasm to get on court, forget.
  6. The mini-Open Day proposed for April will be cancelled, as will Saturday’s social tournament and future tournaments until further notice.
