Club Constitution and rules
1. Aims
The objectives of the Club remain to promote interest and proficiency in the game of tennis and to provide facilities and coaching for players to enjoy and develop their game. The Club is fully inclusive and is committed to providing a positive tennis experience for everyone. The Club has a safeguarding policy in place to protect children and vulnerable adults from any form of harm or abuse. All surplus income is ploughed back into the Club in the form of maintenance and improvements.
2.Club Committee
An Annual General Meeting is to be held in April each year and members shall elect a Committee for the coming year. The Committee shall not exceed ten in number and shall specifically appoint a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. A quorum comprises three committee members. The Committee must hold at least 3 Committee Meetings each year. The role of the Committee is to set the playing fees, to organise events, maintenance and to manage the rules of the Club.
Residents of Collingtree or Courteenhall shall form the majority of the Committee but anyone is free to be a member
3. Club Membership
Membership of the Club is open to all. Advantages of membership include:
i. Free use of the courts.
ii. Free Club sessions
iii. Eligibility to play in local leagues.
iv. Being allowed to invite a guest at a reduced rate.
The Collingtree Tennis Club App can be used to make all bookings.
Subscriptions run from 1st April to 31st March but part year subscriptions are available at the discretion of the Committee.
Non members – may use the booking App to Pay and Play.
Club Playing Rules
a) Access to the courts is provided by a gate code which will be emailed via the Collingtree Tennis Club App to members and non members. This code will change regularly. All players must observe the times as booked.
b) No member may coach for remuneration without the permission of the Committee.
Player responsibilities:
c) Players use all facilities at their own risk. All players are required to ensure that there is no abuse of the Club grounds or equipment and to be vigilant about the condition of the courts and the surrounding areas., The protection of the courts is the responsibility of all players and any difficulties with the condition of the courts, any abuse or any failure of the lights must be reported to the Club as soon as possible through the names listed on the court notice-board.
d) To protect the playing surface, players are to wear proper sports shoes but not black soled.
e) For safety reasons, no bicycles are allowed inside the perimeter fencing.
f) Only paid up members are allowed to represent Collingtree Tennis Club in league matches.
g) Players may bring visitors to play if paid for on the App and they are responsible for the behaviour of their visitors.
Safeguarding
h) The Club requires all players to fully respect the inclusive nature of the Club and to ensure everyone is treated equally. The safeguarding policy requires anybody who has concerns about the behaviour towards anyone and especially young persons
or vulnerable adults by anyone in the courts or the surrounding area, to make a note of what has been noticed with dates and times. Concerns should be raised with the Club’s Welfare Officer as indicated on the notice-board (and Website) or, if there is any immediate danger to a young person or vulnerable adult, consideration should be given to using 999 to gain police or medical assistance.
Security
i) When leaving the courts, great care must be taken to lock the court gate. If the lights have been used, they must be turned off and the box locked. The last to leave the playing field must also ensure the main gates are locked.
j) The lights are used solely for coaching, Club sessions, matches and at the Committee’s discretion.
