Latest News on Returning to Play

Return to play

Take it gently, warm up properly and stretch afterwards.  We've all had a break from tennis and don't want anyone to now break from tennis!

The outdoor courts will be opening again from 6th April 2021.

All outdoor recreational tennis can resume from 29th March, including singles and doubles social play (subject to the rule of 6 or 2 households), 1:1 coaching and formally organised activity for groups, including all group coaching.  Up to 12 adults and 15 children per group for coaching will be allowed.   Local league matches will also be starting again from 1st May.  See below for more information about club night.

Please bring your own hand sanitiser whenever you play as we cannot guarantee that one will be provided.

BOOKINGS FOR SUMMER TERM COACHING ARE OPEN.   There are still a few spaces left.

NEW TOTS  SESSION - due to high demand we have opened a second Tots session (age 3-6yrs) on Thursdays 4.15-5.00pm.

LOOK OUT FOR OUR NEXT ADULT BEGINNER 6 WEEK TENNIS XPRESS COURSE.

Thanks to funding from the Co-op we are pleased to announce that we are able to offer this amazing deal to 8 lucky adult beginners - just £20 for 6 x 1.5hr lessons.  Tennis Xpress is an LTA programme designed to be fun, teach you to serve, rally and score.  This is open to non-members, with the hope of helping our community to get active, have fun and learn a new sport as well as meet new people.

The current Tennis Xpress course is sold out but don't worry, we will be running 2 more.  Dates and times will be announced soon.

See our Holiday Camp and Coaching pages for details of all coaching and how to book.

CLUB NIGHT / SOCIAL TENNIS

Will resume for members only from 7th April until 17th May.   Following government and LTA guidelines we need to run this on a more formal basis until the next level of restrictions is lifted.  So members will need to book in via the club WhatsApp group before attending.  Records of attendance will be kept for 21 days.  No more than 4 people per court and no waiting for a court or socialising before or after play.  Places will be on a first come first served basis following receipt of a WhatsApp message from the Club Secretary the Sunday before club night.

Please be aware that Club Night is only permitted as it currently falls under "organised club activity" which is why no socialising will be permitted before 17th May.  If social activity is observed then Club Night will be deemed an illegal gathering as it will then fall under the 2 household / rule of 6 category.

After 17th May we hope it will return to a drop-in session where non-members will be welcome too and we can all begin to relax a little, even if in a socially distanced way!

You can read about organised club activity and see all the latest advice from the LTA for players, venues and coaches here  LTA Covid advice.

QR code

Anyone entering the Sports Centre site is now required to scan the NHS Covid-19 QR code.  Please download the app in preparation.  QR codes are located around the site, inside and outside.  This applies to all adults age 18 and over and includes social play, coaching, club night, coaches, visiting teams and parent spectators.   Children taking part in coaching do not need to be scanned in as the coach keeps a record of participants.  If you don't have the app or your phone please see a member of staff at the Sports Centre who will take your name and number.  These details are kept for 21 days only.  You will need to wear a mask when going inside the Sports Centre building.

CLUB INFORMATION

Memberships for 2021 -2022 are now available on our membership page

We are a small friendly club, based at Cottenham Sports Centre, behind the Village College.  They have floodlit, all-weather courts so we can play all year.  A full range of professional coaching is available throughout the year during term time for all ages 3 to 70+ and all abilities.  We also run holiday camps to keep the kids busy and active.  There is a competitive men's team playing in the Cambridgeshire leagues and we now have ladies and mixed doubles teams up and running too. We are always looking for more players in all teams, no need to be Wimbledon standard! Why not come along one Wednesday to social/club night (7.30-9.30pm) and get a feel for the club.  If you were playing at the grass courts during the summer of 2020 we hope you will continue playing and maybe even join the club!

Contact [email protected] for further information.
