About us

Situated on the picturesque edge of the Dornoch Firth, the historic town of Dornoch stands as a shining gem amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. Boasting attractions including a renowned championship golf course, an award-winning beach, charming independent retailers, and delightful eateries, Dornoch has long been a favored destination for both locals and tourists alike.

In 2007, The Dornoch Area Community Interest Company (DACIC) was founded with a clear mission: to enrich and safeguard the heart of Dornoch's town center, ensuring the provision of top-tier services for residents and visitors alike. Initially, DACIC was deeply involved in business development initiatives, fostering a vibrant and diverse local economy that not only bolstered the community but also generated employment opportunities. However, as Dornoch has now transitioned into a Business Improvement District (BID), DACIC gracefully transferred the reins of its established brand, Visit Dornoch, to their capable hands, pivoting its focus towards community-centric endeavors.

Over the years, DACIC has managed numerous successful projects aligned with its core objectives. The Dornoch Hub stands as a testament to their commitment, offering versatile spaces for offices, retail ventures, workshops, and meetings, thereby fostering collaboration and innovation within the community. Notable achievements include the completion of Phase 1 of The Dornoch South project in 2022, which alleviated congestion in the town center with the addition of ample parking spaces, including dedicated coach parking. Furthermore, Phase 2 of this project, the construction of the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), providing a recreational haven for both locals and visitors alike.

The MUGA, a recent addition to Dornoch's recreational landscape, is available for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Bookings and payments can be conveniently made online, with access facilitated through a Smart Gate system. Additionally, floodlighting is automatically regulated based on usage, ensuring optimal energy efficiency.
