Spring League Match 3 & 4

Well..... We did better this time!

Starting with our match away vs. Giffnock last Sunday which saw Duncan, Cameron, Luke and Connor take on another strong side in this league. With Duncan and Cameron having a great game on courts 1 & 2, unfortunately, their opponents were too strong and took both matches away from our boys. On court 3, however, saw our first rubber of the season!! Luke and Connor started with the doubles and got off to a great start to take the match 6-1 7-5.

A bit of a break and our second matches were underway and things started well for the team with Luke and Connor now onto their singles matches and Cameron and Duncan now play doubles on court 3. And like I said, things started well but, it ended there I'm afraid with all three matches ending rather closely but, conclusively for the home side.

Giffnock 5 -1 East Kilbride

Yesterday saw our team of Duncan, Luke, Stevie and Stuart C away to David Lloyd Renfrew who are our closest rivals to escape bottom spot of the table. Everyone started their Singles outdoor in the warmest day so far this year (team opinion!) and with Stuart Campbell playing his first ever match for the club, he had the best opportunity to take something from his match as he went into a match tie break. Unfortunately it wasn't to be losing a very tight 10-7 in the third set match tie break. Stevie came close, after a bad start, making a hard worked comeback but, losing out in the end. Luke and Duncan had fairly conclusive defeats at first and second but, worked their opponents to the very end and did all they can to stay in it.

After the break saw a great start for Duncan and Luke in their doubles match going 4-1 up straight away but, their opponents made their way back and in a tight first set we took the first set in a tie break 7-3. The boys couldn't do much more in the second after being broken late on and then came the match tie break. With it going one way then the other saw us with the advantage at the final stage but, was done after 3 straight points from the opponents to win 10-8. Good news is Stevie and Stuart played incredibly well to take their doubles 6-4 6-4 as the final match of the day finishes!

DL Renfrew 5-1 East Kilbride
