Coaching Qualifications

As a member of the club we can offer you the chance to earn professional qualifications and get you more involved within the sport. We offer a subsidisation packages, mentoring programmes and coaching hours within the tennis club and/or in some of our multiple community programmes. For descriptions of what each qualifcation entails see below.

 

UKCC Level One - Information

The level 1 coaching assistant course is the starting point for people who want to get into tennis coaching and become a coaching assistant. It will train people to:

  • Organise tennis activity constructively and safely.
  • Plan and deliver a structured lesson under the guidance of an accredited coach.
  • Have basic knowledge of tactics, techniques and rules of tennis.
  • Have a full understanding of the structure of Mini Tennis.

Course requirements;

 

UKCC Level Two - Information

The level 2 coaching assistant course qualifies people to: 

  • Deliver coaching in a group setting in all types of venue
  • Plan and deliver structured lessons using LTA coach resources
  • Organise and facilitate competition for groups of beginners

Requirements;

  • Hold the level 1 coaching assistant qualification OR the LTA tennis assistants OR hold a 1st4sport level 2 certificate in coaching another sport with UKCC endorsement OR hold a teaching qualification specialising in P.E.
  • Be LTA Accredited  or hold a DBS certificate applied for through the LTA that is less than 12 months old from the start date of the course.  Please note that it may take at least eight weeks for a DBS to be processed and you must hold a valid LTA DBS certificate upon booking. 
  • Hold a valid certificate of competence in either First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work(EFAW), or will have successfully completed the OFQUAL Level 2 in First Aid.
