The purpose of the Manchester Aegon Trophy Participation Project is to use the tournament to inspire tennis growth across the city before, during and after the event!
School clinics will be run by The Northern Lawn Tennis Club, giving opportunities for hundreds of young people to try tennis.
The Quorn Family Cup will begin the programme, with clubs from across the North West coming along and take part in a fun, family competition. Following this, there will be a Tennis 4 Kids family fun afternoon for participants and there families to take part in some coaching activity and watch professional grass court tennis.
Throughout the week there will be a broad range of community programmes that aim to demonstrate all local tennis opportunities across Manchester with activities including ‘Fastest Serve’ which is sponsored by Transport For Greater Manchester where anyone can come along and try to set the fastest serve each day of the tournament.
Finishing the week will be a Local Tennis League demo event where participants from the parks league are invited to join us on centre court to showcase what's involved in playing in the league.
Growth of Tennis in Manchester is the number one priority of the project. The interest gained from the legacy activities will be fed directly into a varied tennis offer across Manchester, enabling local parks and club venues to showcase their tennis offers to help get more people playing tennis more often.
