Local Star Noel Stapley Shines at Norfolk Closed Tennis Championships with Title Win

We are pleased to celebrate the impressive achievements of our club captain, Noel Stapley, at the recent Norfolk Closed Tennis Championships at Limetree Road Tennis Club in Norwich.

On August 30th, Noel secured the title in the 40+ Men’s Singles category, showcasing his skill and sportsmanship against Chris Evans from the National Tennis Association (NTA).

The following day, Noel also played the final of the 35+ Men’s Singles, again facing Chris Evans, and finished as the runner-up. Their matches became a tournament highlight, reflecting the competitive spirit of Norfolk Tennis, and many congratulations to Chris for his redeeming win.

This year's championships not only crowned champions but also celebrated the community aspect of the sport. Local school children enjoyed free tennis sessions, and activities were provided for individuals with disabilities. The contributions of volunteers and young tennis leaders were acknowledged with free skill-building workshops.

Finals Day on August 31st concluded a week of thrilling tennis, with exciting matches and a vibrant atmosphere. Past and present Norfolk County players presented trophies, enhancing the event's prestige.

At Gorleston Lawn Tennis Club, we take pride in Noel’s accomplishments and the example he sets for our members. Congratulations, Noel, on your great success.

Here’s to future victories!
