On Wednesday 2nd July we hosted a fully inclusive SEND Festival at the club. In addition to our regular weekly visitors from Oaktree School, 5 other local schools joined us on court for a great 1.5 hour tennis session.
So, 60 children doing Coach-led drills, hitting, catching, throwing, absolutely all taking part. Our two Coaches Paul and Ignacio led a warm up session and then we divided into the different stations that had been set up with 2 volunteers on each. The children then rotated to each station so they had a go at everything.
At the end of the session we stopped for a cold drink and a biscuit and every participant received a Certificate and Medal from Bright Ideas for Tennis, the wonderful charity that started us off on this adventure.
Special thanks to Kim Henderson our Welfare Officer who organised the whole event, to Caroline Connell from Barnet Sport, our Coaches Paul and Ignacio and all our volunteers Members, past members and friends! A special name check for you all - Marion, Lynne, Margaret, Marisa, Nicki, Dawn, Vivien, Niki, Lucy, Frances, James & George. We couldn’t have done it without you!
