Harlow TC Doubles Ladder League

RULES OF PLAY

• Open to all adult members, male and female, including authorised juniors.  Social tennis with a competitive edge.

• Initially, players will be assigned to a group with three others at random, irrespective of gender. Once the ladder is up and running, players will then move up/down on a promotion/relegation basis each month.

• Each ladder session will run over a 4-week period.  It is the responsibility of the first-named player to contact the other players in his/her group and arrange a suitable date to play.  The second-named player must provide the match balls.  Costs for match balls (and floodlights if needed) should be shared between the four players.

• Each player plays with the other three on a time-limited basis for 30 minutes per match, so player 1&2 v 3&4, then 1&3 with 2&4 and finally 1&4 v 2&3). The whole group should be completed within 2 hours maximum.

• Each individual player keeps a note of their game score (i.e. number of games won) and totals these up at the end; scores are then entered on the table on the Notice Board in the Clubhouse and sent to the organiser using the Club email (harlowtcyorks@gmail.com). 

• Games must be completed and results reported by 28th of each month, to allow the next month’s groupings to be issued as soon as possible.

• At the end of the session (4 weeks) the top player will be promoted to the higher league and the bottom player drops drop down to the lower group. This should allow for variety each month.

• If bad weather or injury delays completion of all matches within the 2 hours, then the matches may be re-arranged for a later date if all players agree. You may decide amongst yourselves to complete the match as is, rather than re-play it, depending on how much play was missed.

• New additions to the league will start in the lowest league.

• If any group is not full (i.e. fewer than 4 players, due to injury etc.) and it has not been possible to play the match, promotion/demotion will be done on a random draw basis.
