Welcome to Helpston Lawn Tennis Club

Step onto the historic grounds of Helpston Lawn Tennis Club, a community treasure located in the heart of Helpston village.

🎾 With two well-maintained grass courts, a welcoming clubhouse (with a basic kitchen and toilet), and a quiet setting flanked by horse fields, our club is a haven for tennis enthusiasts of all levels.

🎾 Open May through September, we offer LTA-affiliated coaching, engaging social events, an end of season tournament and more.

Whether you're a tennis veteran or picking up a racket for the first time, you are all welcome.

🎾 2025 Opening and Members BBQ - We are working hard to get the courts ready for opening in May and are hosting a start-of-season social on Sunday 4th May from 3pm.

🎾 Ladies Tennis and Tipples - A ladies only social event - members and non-members welcome. Sunday 18th May from 4pm

🎾 Club Tournament and BBQ - Sunday 31st August 

 

Club Play Sessions

No need to book a court - just turn up and play.

🎾 Wednesdays 6pm until dusk - Adults only

🎾 Saturdays 4-6pm - Family social play

🎾 Sundays 10-12noon - Adults only

 

Club communication

🎾  Once you join we will add you to our mailing list and will send out details for club access (gate and clubhouse codes) nearer to the opening in May. We will also add your to our broadcast only Whatsapp group.

🎾 Please read our club Terms & Conditions – By joining the HLTC you agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the club, which are below. Looking after the lawn by not playing during or soon after significant rainfall is an important part of looking after our lovely grass courts.

Helpston Lawn Tennis Club Rules / Members Agreement

Membership and Fees

  • Registration: Complete the online registration form before joining.
  • Subscriptions: Fees are determined at the AGM. A junior/student is defined as anyone up to 21 years old in full-time education. Adult fees apply otherwise, except for family memberships.

Court Usage and Etiquette

  • No Dogs: Do not bring dogs through the field or onto the courts
  • Supervision Requirement: Members under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Balls Provided: New or used balls are provided for Club nights, matches, and tournaments only.
  • Ball Retrieval: Collect all balls from the farm end during play. Leave balls in the horse’s field; they will be returned by the owners.
  • Play Organisation: The captain or any committee member can organise play on Club nights.
  • Play Restrictions: The committee may limit play to protect the courts or reserve them for specific groups.

 

Ball Machine:

  • Adult supervision: To only be used with an adult supervisor who has read the ball machine guidelines, or attended one of our introduction sessions.
  • Please read the guidance notes stored with the machine.
  • Please ensure it is never used in wet weather or left outside in the rain.
  • Always lock away after use. 

Guests and Security

  • Guest Players: Only adult members may invite guests, collecting a fee of £3.00 to be placed in the tin in the clubhouse.
  • Security: Ensure the clubhouse and all gates are locked upon leaving. Do not share the gate code with non-members.

Weather and Safety

  • After Rainfall: Avoid using courts within 24 hours of significant rainfall. Consult a committee member if unsure.
  • Junior Members on Club Nights: Juniors may join senior members at the discretion of the committee.

Conduct and Liability

  • Liability: The Club is not liable for loss, damage, or injury to members or guests on Club premises.
  • Conduct: Membership can be suspended for conduct deemed contrary to the Club's interests or reputation.

Equipment and Facilities

  • Bikes/Scooters: Do not bring bikes or scooters into the field or onto the courts.
  • Peak Times Play: Limit playtime to one hour or play doubles when others are waiting.
