Lorraine Clayton and Simon John duo storm to victory in mixed doubles tournament
After much anticipation and planning, and a summer of practice on court, 30 keen tennis players came together on Sunday 17 September for our Annual Autumn Mixed Doubles Tournament.
After a delicious "bacon buttie" and coffee, and any fears of weather stopping play put to one side, players set forth on court notwithstanding some pretty bleak weather.
By the time of the semi-finals, the sun was out to enable most of us to kick back and enjoy watching the semi-finals and finals.
Well done to finalists James and Jasmine Spurgeon who took on the Clayton/John pair in an exciting final match. It was a very tight and hard-fought match. Young talent Jasmine Spurgeon and her killer forehand threatened to steal the show but ex-Chairman Simon and ex-Secretary Lorraine fought back and won over in the end.
Thanks to the tennis committee, particularly Ali Eyston and Phillipa Waddington, for a great morning's tennis.
