About the club.

Heswall Lawn Tennis Club has been providing tennis in Quarry Road East for over 100 years.

With 8 all-weather astroturf courts, 4 of which are floodlit, we can play tennis all year round.

We offer a wide range of social and competitive tennis to suit all levels of player, with an extensive coaching programme available to adults and juniors.  

We enter 4 teams in the mixed Wirral Summer League, and 6 teams (3 men and 3 ladies) in the Wirral Winter League, the Cheshire LTA Inter Club competitions and several national events. Heswall's membership includes players of all ages.

We have a very active Junior membership. On Friday evenings, we run supervised junior social tennis evenings and courtside or in our bar, overlooking all courts, we welcome parents to come along and watch.

Adult Tennis 

Social tennis

Mix-In doubles social tennis takes place at 6pm on Wednesday evenings and from 1pm on Saturday afternoons. Just come along and you are guaranteed tennis with other members.

Availability of courts

The club does not presently operate a booking system for members to book courts for the social playing of tennis.

During the day up to 6pm on weekdays courts are generally available for use by members but check the website for details of when junior camps are being held during the mornings in the school holidays.

At the weekends there is junior coaching until 11am  and occasional junior matches. On Sunday mornings from the end of September to mid-April either 2 or 4 courts are used between 10am and 1pm for Winter League matches.

The autumn/winter evenings see the Floodlight section below regarding court availability.

During spring/summer evenings court availability is subject to the following: 

Monday - courts free after 6pm for members' use.

Tuesday - all 8 courts after 6pm are required for Wirral Summer League matches between 30th April and 30th July.

Wednesday - Social Mix-In tennis has priority after 6pm, but there are usually spare courts for members who prefer not to join the Social tennis.

Thursday - from 6pm there are Chester League matches (2 courts) and Friendly matches (4 courts) on certain evenings. Check the website and social media for details.

Friday - from 4.30pm it is Junior fun night which has court priority until 7.15pm except for 2 courts during the winter and summer for Wirral Floodlight League and Wirral Summer Men's League matches. 

Saturday & Sunday - courts available for members.

Competition Tennis​​​​​​
The club enters teams in the following competitions in the summer:

- Wirral Summer League (mixed & men): April/July.

- Chester League (men & men over 60): April/July.

- Wirral Tankard (mixed). August.
 

Members' Guests.
Members' guests may play tennis. Members must enter the guest(s)names and sign in the Visitors' book in the clubhouse and pay £5 per visitor which can be paid online using the link situated in the club house.   Members' guests (playing and non-playing) may purchase drinks at the bar.
