Squad training

Highland District is one of 9 Districts in Scotland. We provide coaching for players aspiring to improve, compete and succeed in tennis.  Our squads focus on 10u, 12u, 15u and 18u age groups and are formed from SIFT events and regular talent ID. People attending District activity must be a member of a Highland District based club.

The District program is over and above club programmes for talented individuals and comprises of  two tiers.

Tier 1 Development squads 8U, 9U, 10U, 13U, 14-17U

 

Development squads operate from three clusters areas Morayshire | Invernesshire, Nairnshire and Rosshire | Strathspey and Badenoch. The aim is to cluster better performing club players together for localised training throughout the year, playing intercluster and external events.  Development squads can accomadate a playing base of 72.  



Tier 2 District squads 12U, 15U, 18U

District squads will be formed 1 month before the annual inter district event at Kilgraston April 2020 where Highland Tennis are  invited to enter a team of 6  boys and 6  girls with 2 boys and 2 girls in each of the three age groups 12u, 15u, 18u.   District squads can accomodate a playing base of 16 (not all will be selected for Kilgraston). District squads represent the first tier of the National performance pathway, many District squad players continue to progress to County squads with 10 - 14yr olds also being considered for tennis scotland Regional programmes.
