Adur & Worthing Council’s Tennis Court Rules & Terms of Use
Tennis Court Rules
Players must read, understand and abide by the following Court Rules:
- Players must apply principles of respect and fair play
- Members should wear appropriate clothing and footwear on court
- No ball games other than tennis are to be played on the tennis courts
- No playing of music is allowed at the tennis courts
- Smoking is not permitted within the fenced boundary of the courts
- Users must leave the tennis courts in good order. Do not leave any personal belongings, litter or other items on the courts
- The tennis courts are used at your own risk. Users must consider their own safety and the safety of others at all times.
- Users may only enter the court using their own unique booking code. Users must not enter the court without entering the booking code for their session.
- Users must ensure that the court gate is closed securely behind them upon leaving.
- No person may coach others for financial gain on these tennis courts without the prior approval of Worthing Borough Council.
- Permission to coach will only be granted to LTA Accredited Coaches.
Worthing Borough Council staff members reserve the right to request that users leave the facility if any of these rules are breached.
Court Booking Rules
- You must book a session before you play. Access to the courts is not permitted without a booking.
- Sessions can be booked 10 days in advance.
- All users are advised to bring evidence of their booking confirmation email to their session. This will help to avoid or resolve any confusion over bookings with the council and/or other patrons.
- Worthing Borough Council has the right to cancel bookings at its discretion. In the event of a booking being cancelled, an email will be sent to court users in advance. We endeavour to reasonable notice, but the council may require the courts at short notice.
- Worthing Borough Council reserves the right to pre-book the courts for coaching and events at its discretion.
- Worthing Borough Council reserves the right to close the courts at its discretion. In the event of closures, reasonable notice will be given in advance where possible.
- All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order to receive a refund. This includes weather conditions, it is the players responsibility to check weather conditions.
- If you no longer require your booked session, please cancel your booking as soon as possible, to free up the session for other users. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for a refund.
- Unwanted bookings must be cancelled online before the scheduled booking.
- Cancellations requested later than 24 hours before the scheduled booking will not receive a refund.
- Please note, the council is charged a transaction fee for bookings, even if the booking is cancelled and a full refund is received. Please be mindful that cancelled bookings will incur a cost to the council.
Right to Play
- You must book a court online before playing. Please bring your booking confirmation with you.
- Report problems to via the Clubspark Contact Form or report it to the council
- In the event of any dispute over session bookings, the person whose name appears on the booking sheet will take precedence.
- Staff from Adur & Worthing Council reserve the right to ask any person they feel is misusing or behaving in an anti-social manner to leave the tennis courts.
- Refunds for sessions not accessed due to technical issues will be issued at the council’s discretion. Proof will be required that the courts were inaccessible at the time of the booking.
Pay & Play with Clubspark
- Sessions must be booked online via Clubspark
- The first time you use the Pay & PLay system you will need to register for an account. For subsequent bookings, you will be able to log in and go directly to the Pay & Play bookings tab.
- Payment for Pay & Play completed online. This allows customers to manage the booking process themselves.
- Please note there may be a short minute delay between the booking being processed and receipt of your confirmation email.
- You can also make bookings via the free Clubspark app for iOS and for Android.
PIN Code System
Upon booking your session, you will be issued a unique PIN code for your bookings.
This PIN code will be unique to your booked hour of play or your account (if a member).
Your PIN code will be emailed with the booking confirmation details.
This PIN code will be required for access to the courts via our secure gate. Without this PIN code you will not be able to enter the tennis courts.
You must book a court online before you play. Unwanted bookings must be cancelled online before the scheduled session.
Prices
- £8.50 per hour
- Free hours for Community Account holders 09:00-11:00 weekdays (1 hour per week)
- £57.00 per year, family membership - 5 people can book up to 4 hours tennis per week over a rolling 7 day period
Prices are based on booking one court. The minimum booking length is one hour.
