January 2026 Newsletter

HLTC JANUARY 2026 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the January 2026 edition of our club newsletter. Here’s some of items of note from the past month:

Our car park is now fully usable with the blockwork and hedge gone and in its place a solid tarmac base. The extra space allowed for a couple more parking bays, and new clearer lines should assist with ‘parking accuracy’.

You may have noticed that Pete Wickens’ new planters, alongside court 5, are taking shape. Hopefully they will be ready in time for some spring planting.

A working party is to look at exterior security lighting with a view to add to or improve on our existing setup. If you have any ideas or strong opinions on this, please send us an email and we will take a look.

It’s membership fees review time. We are looking at keeping changes broadly in line with inflation and will update the membership section of the website soon.

Please note that when leaving the clubhouse you should check that ALL lights are turned off, including the toilets, and when using the floodlights please ensure that the meter cabinets are properly locked.

It was another big turnout for our Christmas party, good to see a number of our new members in attendance. Lots of compliments about the food, and some great raffle prizes donated and won.

If you enjoy our club events and want to help maintain the excellent standard, perhaps you could volunteer some help with the catering for the summer party. Paul Farrell would be happy to hear from you.

If you want to book the clubhouse for a special occasion then get in touch with Paul Farrell directly or via the club email below.

Our next Wednesday Lunch Club is on the 11th Feb, so get your name down on the clipboard by the back door

And don't forget the ever-popular Quiz Night on Saturday Feb 7th - the sign up sheet is in the clubhouse. You can just turn up but risk us not having space for you !

As always, any feedback welcome on tennishorley@gmail.com
