Welcome to the November 2025 edition of our club newsletter. Here’s some of items of note for this month:
We are pleased to have agreed Friday 14th November for refurbishment to start on courts 1/2/3. This will take a month or more, so be wary of contractor movements, and stored materials, in and around the car park area. There will be changes to coaching course timings which Head Coach Sean has already promulgated to his clients – if you want to know more please contact him.
With 3 courts out of action and two tournaments on the go we will need to be flexible about court booking times and available surface. Team matches, club-play and coaching needs are making short term sacrifices as per the email sent to you all on Friday last. Please familiarise yourself with the timings and compromises to avoid any disappointment.
Any changes, delays or disruption to the process will be advised via central email to all members.
Fireworks Night on Saturday 1st November took a beating from the weather. Despite this over £280 was donated to the Horley Lions and many enjoyed the laser show, food on offer and the bar of course. Thanks to Paul and the team once again.
A reminder for our Christmas party on the 13th of December. This year’s chosen theme is James Bond (007) film ‘Casino Royale’ and there’s a prize for best dressed partygoer. Tickets are available now from the bar priced at £12 each.
If you want to book the clubhouse for a special occasion then get in touch with Paul Farrell directly or via the club email below.
Our next Wednesday Lunch Club is on the 10th December. It’s Christmas and bound to be well attended so get your name down on the clipboard nice and early to help with logistics.
Moan of the month: a spate of chewing gum on the courts is being reported. It’s banned at the club for obvious reasons, if someone is unaware please give them some guidance.
And finally, a warm welcome to this month’s new members Simon, Giuliana, David S and Noah.
As always, any feedback welcome on tennishorley@gmail.com
