HLTC Annual Club Championship – Summer Tournament 2025
TOURNAMENT RULES
1. Entry is open to all Adult playing members (except Offpeak), Students and Upgraded Juniors who had paid their membership fee in full or were up-to-date with payments under the instalments scheme at the close of entries – 26th May 2025 - and remain up-to-date throughout the Tournament.
2. Players MUST be available to play in the finals which will take place over the weekend of 6th and 7th September 2024.
3. By entering the Tournament, players AGREE to having their contact email address and phone number visible on a list in the Clubhouse to enable others to contact them about playing.
FORMAT
Each match is a played off Scratch (ie no handicaps) and decided on the best of 3 standard tie-break sets (ie if you reach 6-All in a set you play a standard tie-break – first to 7 points and winning by 2 clear points)
Each round is a straight knockout ie the loser(s) of each match progress no further in that particular Tournament Category
Dates and courts for matches are allocated on the draw sheets. All players are responsible for confirming or arranging matches but any player who cannot make the set date/time is responsible for re-arranging the tie - and may be defaulted from the competition if they fail to do so. After the first round the second player (singles) or pair (doubles) arriving in the box for the next round is required to contact players already there to confirm the date/time of their match.
Other than allocated dates/times matches are NOT ALLOWED to be arranged to take place during Club Play unless there happens to be a spare court - re-arranged matches have NO priority over which courts they can use (that is, Club Play participants will always have priority use of the courts).
SAFEGUARDING
For Safeguarding reasons singles matches against players aged under 18 (there are some !) must ONLY be played when other adults are present (eg chaperone, or during club play or coaching). The Court Booking system may help you find out who will be there at other times.
TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS and DISPUTES
The following comprise the Tournament Committee: Richard Bothwell, Jon Warren, Chrissie Eastmond.
In any dispute during the competition the Tournament Committee's decision is final but obviously they will take into account points raised by all players involved, in particular how much efforts have been made to contact the opponents when re-arranging matches where one side or the other cannot meet the original date.
