Welcome to the April 2025 edition of our club newsletter. Here's some of items of note from the past month:

Let's start with the Winter Tournament finals where all the matches were closely fought and a great spectacle for us all on what was a nice sunny day. Congratulations to all the players. Results are as follows:

Mens Elite Singles: Sam Armitage 8-5 Gosi Egbeama

Men's Singles: Sam Armitage 8-5 Rob Wylie

Ladies Singles: Maria Mbanga 8-6 Jo Rosendale

Men's Doubles: James Harwood & Steve Petryszyn 8-5 Rob Wylie & David Roberts 

Ladies Doubles: Julie Newton & Harriet Marner 8-6 Kerry Akehurst & Maria Mbanga

Mixed Doubles: Sue Atkin and Irfan Walji are our mixed doubles winners on a bye. It's a shame they didn't get the chance to show their prowess.

Let's not forget our tournament committee Jon, Richard and Chrissie whose handicaps proved accurate. Thanks also to our umpires on the day; Irfan, Sue and Simon. Roll-on the Summer Tournament.

Our next Wednesday Lunch Club is on the 21st May. Great food and company assured. Those interested, please put your name on the clipboard near the clubhouse back door.

Congratulations to David Austin who won the Giant Easter Egg draw. And thanks to all those who bought tickets - we generated £165 for Horley Lions and the Lucy Rayner Foundation charity. I expect David will be sharing that egg with us all.

Quotes for the resurfacing of courts 1/2/3 are now in. We have quotes for both tarmac and clay options. Additional improvements may include the courts fencing and gates, which are looking shabby and in need of repair, and the blocking of invasive roots which are undermining the surface.

The new entrance gates and paving are making progress. Our project leader Pete Wickens is away for a few weeks so things will be at a standstill until May. Please be aware of uneven surfaces in the interim.

The Club's summer party is scheduled for June 7th, details of which will be distributed soon. 

We have a new Membership Secretary who takes over from Barry King. Mike Knowler will be taking all your enquiries and your money too. Thanks to Mike for volunteering.

And finally..... a warm welcome to those new members joining us this month: Julie, Ina, Igor, Lara, Sarah, Diane, Stuart, Anne, and Alana.
