Match Point Memories

"Match Point Memories" is a community programme working with Alzheimer's Society to support people living with dementia and their carers in sharing important memories and creating new ones by providing opportunities for social engagement, mental stimulation, and various activities promoting mental and physical well-being.

Each fortnightly session, led by LTA Accredited Coach Issie, takes place at Hillside Lawn Tennis Club in Ainsdale Village Park.

Our sessions are based on mini tennis, using smaller nets, rackets, and softer balls to make the activity accessible for all. We incorporate warm-up activities to improve coordination and balance, recognising the positive impact physical activity has on mental health.

The goal of "Match Point Memories" is to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia, their carers, and wider support networks through fortnightly tennis sessions fostering a supportive community among individuals sharing similar experiences.

These sessions also provide time for carers to share experiences and build social support networks with refreshments served at the end of each session for families and carers to chat.

Having recently undergone Dementia-Friendly training, participants will find a supportive and understanding atmosphere where all skill levels are celebrated. We provide all the necessary equipment to encourage everyone to pick up a racket.
