What is mini tennis?
Mini tennis is an introduction to tennis for kids aged three to 12. It's a mini version of the real game using special rackets and balls designed for smaller hands and bodies.
Tots Tennis
These sessions are appropriate for children of the age of 2+ and include the basics of tennis through fun activities based around agility, balance and co ordination whilst using a racket and a ball
Mini Red (Ages 5-8)
The game is played on a smaller court with age apropraite equipment and balls. Children will continue to learn the technique whilst developing tactics and competition. A shorter racket of 43cm – 58 cm (17” – 23”) is recommended depending on the size and strength of the player.
Mini Orange (8-9)
This is played on a standard size court with modifications to the net height and court parametres
An orange ball is used which is 50% slower than a yellow ball, giving players better control at this important stage of development. A racket of 58cm – 63 cm (23” – 25”) should be used depending on the size and strength of the player
Mini Green
A green ball is used, which is 25% slower than a yellow ball.
The net is at full height. A bigger racket of 63cm – 66cm (25” – 26”) should be used but not compulsory.
