Originally a Bradford secondary school PE teacher.

Involved with tennis for the last 42 years both in a coaching and playing capacity at Ilkley.

Head Pro at Ilkley for 39 years coaching all player levels. Other coaching roles of note include National Coach Under 18 Boys, Regional and County coaching.

In competitive play:-

Captained and played for England in Home Internationals.

Represented GB at Over 35,40 & 45 age group.

Yorkshire County 1st Team 17 years.

Yorkshire County Singles Champion 8 times.
