Recruitment

At JW tennis we are always looking to add new coaches to our existing team. We set high standards for our coaches which must be met so we can be sure we are providing a high quality service to customers. We look to hire experienced coaches as well as those looking to get into the profession.

Working as a coach for JW Tennis

All our coaches are self employed individuals who work on a fee paid basis for all coaching they deliver with us. Coaches are paid a fixed amount for the coaching they deliver and this incorporates all aspects of coaching such as lesson planning and setting up for a session.

The fees we pay vary  based on experience and qualification, but we pay competitively as we aim to hire only the very best coaches who apply to us.

What we look for

All of our coaches will be required to provide an enhanced DBS check with child barred list check before working on sessions for us.

What we look for in qualified coaches:

  • The ability to build a strong rapport with a group of children and adults
  • A strong base of technical knowledge which you can pass onto those you coach
  • Strong leadership skills allowing you to take control of a busy session and manage assistant coaches
  • Professionalism, this includes punctuality and how you present yourself to customers and other coaches
  • A minimum level 2 LTA accreditation or equivalent or a level 1 qualification with appropriate insurance and working towards a level 2

In those looking to get into coaching, include career changers, we look for:

  • The ability to build a rapport with children and adults
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership skills, even if not on court
  • A desire to learn the technical aspects of coaching
  • A desire to attain qualifications
  • Professionalism

Application process

We ask prospective coaches to email their CV to james@jwtennis.co.uk to begin the application process. You may wish to include a short covering letter, though there is no requirement to do so.

We operate a two stage interview process. The first stage is an over the phone interview where you will be asked about experience, transferrable skills and your professionalism will be assessed.

If you progress to the second stage you will be asked to lead or support a group coaching session (30-60 Mins) where your technical ability, professionalism and leadership will be tested, as well as how you build a rapport with those you are coaching will be assessed.

During the application process we will consider any experience you may have whether it is related to tennis coaching or not. We have welcomed coaches into the academy from a wide range of previous employment, including those previously working in the music industry right the way to professional drivers.

After this process we will decide whether to accept your application or not.
