John Cooksley Coaching

John's mission is to cultivate a vibrant tennis community within our local area by providing accessible and inclusive opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to engage with the sport. Through innovative programs, partnerships and events, John aims to inspire a love for tennis, foster skill development and build lasting connections within our community.

John Cooksley was appointed Head Coach of the Victoria Lawn Tennis Club, Street in 2017. John has an LTA Level 4 Senior Club Coach qualification aswell as PTR Level 2 and has enjoyed many years playing competitive tennis. He represented the county from the age of 8 and captained both Devon and Somerset. During his teenage years John became an Assistant Coach at South Devon Tennis Centre, Ivybridge. It was here he developed his passion for coaching and went on to run the Mackintosh Tennis Club in Cardiff whilst studying for a degree in sports coaching.  With over 20 years of tennis coaching experience he has nurtured numerous county champions. He still plays competitively when he can, and recently joined the Somerset Men’s 35 and over team.

John offers coaching sessions for both juniors and adults, and is available for private individual lessons. As well as this he offers a restringing service.
