Tennis Scotland, Joppa Community Tennis Club and homecare provider Home Instead are teaming up to bring Walking Tennis to Portobello & Joppa on Wednesday afternoons.
Staring on the 22nd of April - between 2pm and 3.30pm - for 10 weeks; the sessions will be free and players can borrow rackets and balls, making it easy for anyone to join in. To register your interest or find out more, emailandrew.senew@homeinsteadedinburgh.co.uk or call 07557 681478.
Walking Tennis offers all the enjoyment of tennis at a gentler pace, making it safe, social, and inclusive. It’s ideal for older adults, beginners, or anyone returning from injury, as well as those with joint problems or balance concerns who want to stay active without strain. The game follows simple, adapted rules: players can let the ball bounce twice and running or jumping isn’t allowed.
The sport is ideal for older adults looking to keep both body and mind active while enjoying the social benefits of community tennis. Walking Tennis sessions are growing nationwide — come and give it a go this spring in Joppa!
