Code of Conduct
Juniper Green Tennis Club (JGTC) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. Our ethos is to always show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others, as well as Club facilities. Members should contribute by:
-
Respecting the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity
-
Supporting and encouraging all members to enjoy tennis and appreciate good performance, setting a good example by recognising fair play
-
Looking after and maintaining the Club equipment, fixtures, courts and premises
-
Behaving in a safe manner and maintaining a safe environment
-
Adhering to ad hoc rules imposed by the Committee in response to circumstances
By being accepted as a member, an individual agrees to abide by the JGTC Code of Conduct and refrain from any behaviour that may bring JGTC into disrepute.
Specific conduct expected from members:
Respectful behaviour: Members and any guests must conduct themselves in a courteous and responsible manner and refrain from violent, threatening, abusive language or behaviour.
Visitors: Welcome to play with members on up to three occasions and thereafter membership is expected.
Security: The security of our leased facilities is every member’s responsibility. Members must treat the grounds, clubhouse and equipment with respect. The entrance smart gate is designed to close automatically so members should not prop the entrance gate open at any time. On leaving the premises, members must secure the courts gate, clubhouse door and the main entrance gate. Members must not divulge gate and padlock codes to non-members and if asked they should refer the enquirer to the Committee at junipergreentennis@gmail.com
Consideration of neighbours: Members should keep noise to a minimum. Our daily operating hours are 8am to sunset. In the summer the closing time is 9pm.
Booking courts: Courts must be booked online via Clubspark. Players may book a court for a maximum of 2 hours. https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/JuniperGreenTennisClub/Booking/
Children under 13: must be accompanied by an adult unless participating in lessons or camps with the JGTC approved coach. Non-playing children are welcome but must be supervised to ensure that players and the premises including equipment are not disturbed.
Clubhouse: For members and their guests only. Kitchen facilities may be used however the use of all other catering equipment is exclusively for event organisers. Members must clean any dishes used and should not leave food or litter in the Clubhouse.
Playing table tennis: Equipment should be tidied away after use for the next players.
Footwear: Good quality tennis shoes are recommended for macadam surfaces. Sports footwear with bars, studs or sharp serrations on the soles must not be worn on court as they can damage the playing surface and potentially invalidate the contractor’s warranty.
Equipment on Court: No heavy or sharp objects should be placed on the courts.
Chewing Gum: Banned from the courts since it is difficult to remove from macadam.
Court gate: Ensure the courts gate is bolted after entering/leaving the court.
Respect for other players: Talk quietly if adjacent courts are in use. Do not cross behind a court while a point is underway. When the point is over, move quickly across the back of the court. Players should avoid grunting or making other loud noises.
Retrieving or returning balls: If your ball goes onto another court, wait for a break in play before requesting the ball. If your ball presents a danger to a player, alert them immediately. Return balls that come onto your court to the back of the court at a break in play. If a ball comes into your court and disturbs your game, call a let.
Litter: Keep courts and premises clean. Ensure that all litter is disposed of in the appropriate bins.
Pets: Pets are banned from the courts and the Clubhouse. Dogs must be kept on a lead by an adult to ensure that they do not disturb players otherwise they must be removed. Service animals will be accommodated whenever possible, providing reasonable adjustment can be made.
Consumption of alcohol/smoking: Alcohol consumption is not permitted on Club property unless for a sanctioned event. Smoking is not permitted at any time.
Complaints: Any member may report inappropriate conduct or violation of Club conduct to the Committee. A written complaint outlining details of an incident should be emailed to junipergreentennis@gmail.com as soon as possible after the incident.
Volunteering: As a local community Club with no paid staff JGTC depends upon its membership to help run the club, safeguard all players and maintain our leased facilities. All members are encouraged to participate in the club committee and support ongoing court maintenance efforts.
JGTC accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury sustained by members while playing at the club, except where direct negligence can be demonstrated
