What an action packed Finals Day 2024 we had!

We held our annual Club Championships Finals Day today, following knock out rounds played over the summer. High quality tennis – and unexpected blisteringly good weather - was on display.

Highlights included a 3 set thriller in the Men’s Singles Final between Patrick Smith and Cameron Ravenscroft. The match ebbing back and forth in two hours of thrilling action. Patrick, retrieving everything his opponent could throw at him, edged an opening set 6-4 before Cameron, with his powerful double-handed style on both forehand and backhand, won the second by the same score. The deciding set went the way of Patrick 6-2.

The Mixed Doubles title went to Sandy Drummond and Justin Horobin. defeating Danielle Wells and Jamie McLoughlin in a close match for a second year with plenty of high quality rallies to keep the crowd entertained.

The Mens’ Doubles featured a family partnership of Richard McLoughlin and Cameron Ravenscroft, and, backed by a strong family bench of supporters, the pair beat Dave Walker and Richard Clay.

Sarah Diver clinched two wins on the day, the ladies singles, and later the ladies doubles with Danielle Wells.

Howard Wilkinson and Amanda Gunther presented the trophies, while Chris Burns did a fine job on the popular barbecue. Thanks to all our volunteers who helped on catering, scoring and photography!
