FAQs

The purpose of this page is to offer a one-stop shop for BeActive tennis players, answering some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the programme and the direction of the club. If you're question is not directly addressed here, please message via the KCL tennis core members chat.

Question: How do I purchase a membership for BeActive Tennis?

Answer: You will need to visit our KCLSU landing page and purchase our Core Membership (£10) and BeActive top-up (£20)*. This gives you access to all of the tennis sessions as well as everything going on at KCL tennis including socials,  flagship events, and other opportunities, for just £30 a year.

*Please note that you do not need to purchase the £20 BeActive top-up if you live in one in one of the following King's residences

Question: Once I have purchased the Core Membership and the BeActive Tennis Membership, what are the next steps?

Answer: Unless this has been done automatically, you need to message the President (number on Welcome Chat) so he can add you to the Core Members group chat. Additionally, it will take 5-7 working days following the purchase of your BeActive membership for it to be activated. If it passes 7 working days, please message the Treasurer (number on Welcome chat)

Question: Do you split the sessions into different abilities?

Answer: Yes, we do. The first hour of our BeActive tennis sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday is for beginner players, and the second hour is for intermediate players. If you are unsure of your ability, please speak with one of our BeActive tennis coaches after the first session, and they will be able to give you the best advice

Question: Do we need to bring our own racket and balls?

Answer: No. While we recommend that you have your own racket to play socially outside of sessions, we provide rackets and balls for each and every session if you do not have one.

Question: How do I book sessions?

Answer: No. You can book sessions via the BeActive Website under 'Student Only BeActive sessions.

Question: If it is raining, will BeActive tennis be cancelled?

Answer: The session will only be cancelled if the rain is severe. If it is, you will receive an email via FLOW, which is used to book BeActive Tennis sessions. Please avoid spamming the Group Chat.

Question: I am struggling to secure a space on the BeActive tennis sessions. What can I do to maximise my chances of securing a space?

Answer: Sessions go live 3 days in advance of the date, so please do your best to book as soon as they go live to maximise your chances of getting a place. We recognise that spaces on this programme are limited, and we are doing our best to work with Beactive and increase capacity in semester 2.
