Tom Cowdy

LTA Instructor (Level 2)

I picked up my first racket when I was 6 in Oman. I loved to play, and so upon arriving back to England my parents started taking me to compete in county and regional tournaments. I continued to compete in these events all throughout my junior days, winning tournaments like the County Championships and being picked to represent Staffordshire for County Cup.

I am currently studying Sports Performance at Leeds Beckett University alongside competing in the BUCS University tennis leagues. My goal is to continue competing in National events and to play some entry level professional tournaments.

I began coaching in 2020, and soon became the main coach at my local tennis club in Leek. I got great satisfaction from seeing my players improving and enjoying themselves on the tennis court. When I finish university, my goal is to become a full-time performance coach.

Tennis has enriched my life with many experiences and friendships that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Regardless of age or ability, I believe that playing tennis has a positive impact on people’s life, and I hope to be able to share this passion for the sport on court with you!
