3 to 9 years
Welcome to the first stages of learning to play tennis.
Tots 3-4 years - Saturdays 9:15-10 am
This group may require parent participation.
At Lister we start a little earlier in our tennis journey with our tots players. Our Head Coach creates a lovely fun environment where the little ones can chat, play, and learn whilst developing their agility, balance, and co-ordination. Players will play over and around the mini red court with a mini red ball.
Blue level 4-6 years
This level follows on from the tots and is a great way to get to grips with the basics. The mini courts and balls are the same as tots.
Wednesdays 4-5 pm
Saturdays 10-11 am
Red 6-8 years
This age group is the most common level we see children start their tennis journey, and we love to see new players coming to try the game. Whether they are beginners or moved up from the blue level we welcome all children ready to learn.
At red we now start to look like tennis players as we introduce overarm serves, net rallies and volleys. We will also add scoring and game ettiquette to help develop the mental side of the game. All children will learn that mistakes are part of learning and it is not all about the winning or the losing as we introduce a little matchplay.
Wednesdays 4-5 pm beginners
Wednesdays 5-6 pm Colts programme
Saturdays 10-11 am mixed ability
Orange Ball 8-9 years
At orange level we are now playing over the big net with a shorter court. Players will continue to develop their rallying ability whilst strengthening the skills learned at red level. Players are now adding problem solving to their game and coaches will be guiding players to continue to be task focused rather than results based. Orange players will be able to practice their communication and scoring and show a wider understanding of what they are learning and why. All players are taught good sportsmanship and leadership behavior.
Tuesdays 4-5 pm Colts programme
Wednesdays 6-7 pm mixed ability
Saturdays 11-12 pm ideal for beginners
