What's happening?
- Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club is hosting three LTA-sanctioned tournaments across May, June and July this year.
When are the tournaments?
- 26th May - Men's and Women's Doubles (Grade 5).
- 16th June - Men's and Women's Singles (Grade 4).
- 21st July - men's and Women's Doubles (Grade 5).
- The tournaments will be held through the day, with a 9:30 or 10:00 start time.
What sort of tournaments are they?
- We have two doubles competitions (LTA Grade 5 or local level) and one singles competition (LTA Grade 4 or county level).
- These events are perfect for club players looking to get into some competitive tennis.
Who can enter?
- The competitions are open to all. As long as you have signed up to LTA Advantage so you get a British Tennis Number and an ITF World Tennis Number. You can get an LTA Advantage membership for free. If you play any team tennis for your club, then you will probably already have an LTA Advantage membership.
- You have to enter through the LTA Competition Management System - but please don't worry, the links to the relevant webpages are given below.
- The LTA Competitions Team has approved the "Own Age Group Priority" status for all three of these tournaments. This means priority is given to those players whose competition age group is the same as the event - i.e. adults (19 years of age plus) will get priority entry into the competition over junior players who may have a better ITF World Tennis Number.
- Should we get more people wanting to enter than we have spaces in the draws, then entry acceptance is decided upon by age and World Tennis Number.
What do I get out of entering?
- You'll have loads of fun playing competitive tennis and putting the skills you've learned in squads and lessons to the test.
- All results from these matches will go towards improving your ITF World Tennis Number.
- Winning matches in Grade 4 and Grade 5 competitions will also give you ranking points in the LTA Ranking System.
- We'll also have trophies for winners and runners-up.
How many matches will I play?
- We hope to run compass draws of at least eight players for each event.
- We'll be using the FAST4 scoring format, which allows players to play up to four short singles matches in a day. Typically, a FAST4 match lasts 45-60 minutes.
- With those formats for draws and scoring, you can expect to play three matches in each event.
- If we can run compass draws of 16 players, then you can expect to get four matches.

The LTA Competitions Team has approved the "Own Age Group Priority" status for all of these events. Therefore, acceptance priority is given to those players whose competition age group is the same as the event (i.e. 19 years of age and over in adult events). So, adult players will get priority acceptance over younger players. Acceptance for the draw will be decided by ITF World Tennis Number. But with "Own Age Group Priority" status an adult would get in to the event ahead of a junior player with a better WTN number. |
