Club Centenary Celebrations

Our Centenary planning group have been working hard to prepare for 3 main events this year.  Thank you to Nina, Jo, Brigitta, Rob and Ann who have been coordinating all the plans.

LLTC Through the Ages

Lyndhurst Tennis club has certainly had an interesting history.  The land, which now forms the tennis, bowls and drama club,  was donated by local businessmen 100 years ago.  Photos and archives from the past 100 years of our tennis club will be on display in the exhibition room at the Heritage Centre, in the main Lyndhurst car park.

Alongside it will be 'Wimbledon in 1926' which was the 50th Jubilee year of the tournament and the only time a serving royal took part.

We will also show how the fashion, racquets and balls evolved through the past 100 years.

Come and see the display from 3rd to 9th June at the Heritage Centre.

‘Ye Olde tennis and tea’

On Saturday 4th July we will be holding a fun tournament where competitors are dressed in 1920’s tennis wear playing with wooden racquets and white balls.  Start preparing your costumes as entries will be open shortly.

Afterwards we will be treated to an exhibition match between our men's singles finalists, Josh and James, who will also be playing with the old wooden racquets!

A traditional tea of sandwiches, cake and scones will complete the afternoon.  Everyone is welcome and by all means come in 1920's attire to join in the celebrations.

‘Centenary Celebration’

We are planning an end of year social celebration in November for all club members and partners to bring to a close our special year.

Eat, drink and be merry with 1920’s music and dress!  We are yet to cofirm the date and venue so watch this space.
