Well, that was a cracking day and I know this fact because I'm now sat at home, writing a summary, wishing that I could go to bed to relax my aching limbs, but it's only 5:30 pm!
The walk
Now, I'm an outsider to Market Drayton and I haven't really discovered it before, and to be honest there are some lovely spots, both in town and out of town. I'm not exactly sure where we went as I was just following everyone else and enjoying a good chat with new members, old members and all members in between! I know that we went down some lovely little streets near to the church, and then headed out past some horses and then to the nature reserve. We then went past Buntingsdale Hall (I think it was called), before heading through the golf club then crossing the main road at the Four Alls, down to Tyrley Wharf and then back down the canal to Market Drayton. 7.9 miles, 2.5 hours and we were done, well I was anyway!
The lunch
Super, smashing, delicious π
Back at the clubhouse whilst many of us were walking, Wendy, our chief organiser, was putting together a fantastic display of sandwiches and cakes which was briefly admired by those attending, before being devoured with glee. Thank you so much to all those who contributed, especially Emma Cairns for the fantastic lemon drizzle cake, my favourite.
The tennis
With full stomachs, players then took to the courts for some mix-in tennis games, and to show off some extraordinary shots to those watching from the stands!
All in all, a great time was had by all and I really urge as many of our members as possible to attend the next Reconnect afternoon on Sunday 8th May. There won't be a walk or an organised lunch, but if we all bring some with us to share, there will be cakes and biscuits, and of course there will be tennis πΎ πΎπΎ
Finally, a massive thank you to Rob & Wendy for organising the day ππ
