Members of the Meads Tennis Club in Upper Carlisle Road are thrilled to be playing on two completely resurfaced and refurbished courts.
The work, which took just over ten days to complete, was carried out with speed and efficiency by Trevor May Contractors. After removing the old astro turf "carpet" the base was pressure washed before the new astroturf was fitted and many tonnes of sand applied. Committee member Bernard Lien-Lambert who has worked tirelessly overseeing the project said, "When we knew it was time to replace Courts 1 and 2 we carried out careful research to establish what playing surfaces could be put down. After sharing this research with members we carried out a poll and artificial grass just won over artificial clay. We are delighted with the result as we now have four great courts beautifully complementing our championship standard grass courts."
The resurfacing of the courts has come at a perfect time as the club will be holding its very popular annual Open Day on Saturday April 12th between 10a.m. and 4p.m. Chair of Meads LTC, Hazel Sneath said, "We hope lots of people will come along to see our club with its recently redeveloped clubhouse and our two new Astro courts. There will be lots of fun activities all day and we will also be introducing our new, highly regarded Tennis coach, Matt Golledge. Everyone will be sure of a very warm welcome at what we think, (we might be a bit biased) is the best club in East Sussex."
