The Junior section of MTC is considered to be very important within the Club and is the future of Melbourne Tennis.
Coaching sessions are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays split by age groups into:
mini red: 4 to 7yrs
mini orange: 7 to 9yrs
mini green: 8 to 10yrs
Full Ball: 10 to 14yrs (Wednesday only)
Full Ball Advanced: Invitation only (Wednesday only)

Melbourne’s head coach – Phil Wilcox – also coaches at Melbourne Junior School. One of MTC’s greatest achievements so far is that 4 pupils from the Junior School were chosen to represent the School at the Area School Tennis Competition which was held at the MSP in July 2019. The team won the overall competition going forward to represent South Derbyshire at the school games competition where over 1,000 young children from primary, secondary and special schools across Derbyshire took part in different activities. Six Derbyshire districts competed in the tennis with Melbourne Junior School winning the finals for South Derbyshire.
