Meet the coach

Dan Hitchins, has been an LTA accredited Tennis Coach for over 25 years and has been working out of the Milford on Sea Tennis and Squash Club since November 2020.

Dan started playing Tennis at Hale Gardens in New Milton at the age of 10 years old. He instantly fell in love with the sport due to the varied nature of the game and the mixture of physical, technical, tactical and mental attributes needed to succeed. He went on to regularly compete in tournaments and has been a mainstay player in teams in Division 1 ever since. He is currently the captain of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight over 45 team.

At 20 years old, Dan decided that he wanted to make a career in tennis so took his LTA Level 3 course which enabled him to become a coach. He then took his LTA Level 4 three years later in order to grow his knowledge of the game to benefit both himself and his pupils. These qualifications have seen Dan work in various jobs from Tennis clubs like Hale Gardens and Mudeford Wood to big commercial clubs in the David Lloyd group where he was racquets manager at Ringwood for 12 years up until he joined Milford on Sea.

Dan is super passionate about the sport and likes to coach in a way that children learn to play the game as opposed to treating it as an activity. He has an holistic approach to coaching, where the children learn together in a fun and safe environment.
