FUTURES SQUAD
The Futures Squad forms part of the development pathway delivered by My Sports Pro, based predominantly at Henley Tennis Club. The squad is aimed at juniors competing in county environments, junior team leagues, or working towards county standards, but selection and progression are guided primarily by attitude and behaviours, not results alone.
The core focus of the Futures Squad is on developing the person as well as the player. Greater importance is placed on effort, mindset and how players conduct themselves on and off the court than on how well they play on any given day. Values such as kindness, teamwork, enjoyment, respect and commitment are central to the programme and are expected to be consistently demonstrated in training and competition.
Training sessions are game-based and team-oriented, encouraging players to problem-solve, support one another and enjoy the challenge of competition. Players are rewarded for positive behaviours including hard work, resilience, cooperation and a willingness to learn, helping to create a healthy, supportive environment where confidence and self-belief can grow.
Entry into the Futures Squad is by coach assessment, with the aim of placing players in an environment where they can thrive both as athletes and individuals. The squad supports juniors who are motivated to improve, contribute positively to a team setting and represent My Sports Pro values as they progress through competitive tennis.
