NEW ASH GREEN TENNIS RULES

1. Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are due on 1st April each year and cover the following twelve months membership. No refunds will be given. Any member who has not paid by 31st May shall not use the Club’s facilities until the subscription has been paid.

The membership categories and subscription rates shall be fixed at the AGM.

2. Membership

Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. However, limitation of membership to reflect available facilities is allowable on a non-discriminatory basis.

The following categories of membership are available from 1st April 2026:-

Playing Membership

Adult (18-24 years)

Adult (25-69 years)

Adult (70 plus)

Adults 2 or more - 2 or more adults living in the same household (subject to a discounted rate)

Adult (Tournament & Leagues) - 18 years or over eligible to play in tournaments or a club team only

Student - 18 years or over in full time education

Junior - 13-17 year olds at school, college or in an apprenticeship 

Child with buddy - child up to 12 years playing with an adult (the adult is not a member in this category). The child may not play unaccompanied

Family - children aged to 17 years and one or two adults living in the same household

Non Playing Membership

Non-Playing Member

The Committee shall have the power to nominate, as a Life Member without payment of any further subscriptions, any member who in the opinion of the Committee shall have rendered special services to the Club, but the election shall not take effect unless and until the same is confirmed at the next Annual General Meeting following the date of such nomination.  A Life Member shall be entitled to all the privileges of a Playing Member.

3. New members

Every candidate for membership of the Club shall apply by submitting a copy of the Club’s membership application form, duly completed, to the Secretary.

Election of members shall be made by the Committee who may refuse an application only for good cause such as conduct or character likely to bring the club or sport into disrepute. If necessary the Committee shall, at the time, determine an appropriate appeals procedure.

The Secretary shall notify new members and provide them with a membership card, a copy of the Club’s constitution and any other relevant documents.

4. Playing rules

The Committee shall determine playing rules, court usage and allocations. Any such information will be published on the membership form or communicated by email.

Except at times or occasions permitted by the Committee, no players shall occupy a court for more than one short set if others entitled to play are waiting.

Junior members may be restricted in their use of the courts by any member of the Committee when conditions require it.

5. Guests

Members are entitled to introduce guests for play. The member must arrange payment to the Treasurer of £2 for adults, £1 for juniors. The member is responsible for the dress and behaviour of the guest at all times.
No person shall play as a guest on more than five occasions. However any guest who subsequently becomes a member shall have the amount they have paid in visitor’s fees deducted from their membership subscription.

6. Dress

Appropriate tennis attire shall be worn when playing. No-one shall play on any of the courts in shoes other than non-marking flat-soled tennis shoes without heels. This is for the protection of the courts. Spectators on court must also wear suitable footwear. Anyone disregarding these rules will be asked to leave the courts.

7. Behaviour

Members should behave at all times with due regard for other members and for the care of the courts, premises and grounds. Members whose behaviour is unsatisfactory will be warned and may be excluded from the Club for further unsatisfactory behaviour.

8. Suspension or termination of membership

The Committee has power to suspend or terminate the membership of any member whose conduct shall in its opinion render him or her unfit for membership of the Club by agreement of three quarters majority of those voting.

No such member may be introduced as a visitor to any part of the Club.

If necessary the Committee shall, at the time, determine an appropriate appeals procedure.

9. Safeguarding

All members shall observe the Club’s Safeguarding Policy and shall report to the Welfare Officer any behaviour which contravenes the policy.

10. Data Protection

Members’ personal data is processed in accordance with the Club’s Privacy Policy. 

11. NAG Pavilion premises

Club members who use the NAG Pavilion premises (including the car park and bar) must do so in accordance with the rules of NAG Sports Pavilion Ltd.

12. Club property

Any member causing loss or damage to Club or NAG Sports Pavilion Ltd property is liable for the cost of making good the loss or damage.

13. Personal effects

The Club shall not be liable for loss or damage to the personal effects of members, guests or visitors.

14. Accident or injury

The Club shall not be liable for accident or injury to members, guests or visitors on the Club premises and grounds.

15. Use of surplus income

All surplus income or profits are to be reinvested in the Club. No surpluses or assets will be distributed to members or third parties.

16. Power to alter these rules

The Committee has the power to alter these rules at any time by means of a simple majority. Any changes must be formally communicated to the members by means of a re-issue of this document.
