The club is planning to start work on phase one of the Mitchell room improvements this August with the installation of the new kitchen.
The relative quiet of August when the Nursery is not in residence and Guides and Brownies pause their meetings for six weeks has been identified as the most opportune moment to make progress. The commencement of phase one improvments also means that users of the room should see benefits much sooner than initially planned.
The work has been planned through a group of members led by Delia and will be progressed further with the help of Alan Hall (Clan Property Services) and Liss Mens Shed and is expected to be completed before the end of August and in good time for Finals day in spetember. The old kitchen is due to be removed on or around the 1st August with the the new flat pack units arriving shortly after for assembly with installation expected to follow on from 21st August.
All work will be within the club room and throughout this period there will be reduced facilities and increased activity in the club room.
The kitchen improvements are just phase one of a plan to improve the look and feel of the room generally and to create a space that is open and welcoming and with with improved facilities including
- enhanced open kitchen with increased surface area for food prepartion and display
- increased storage space with easier access
- permanent seating
- retention of space to setup a table for up to eight people.
Planning for future phases will begin in earnest following the opening of the new kitchen but are not expected to be delivered until next year.
